Position Description


Simple Web Works is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented self-starter with excellent communication, creative, and organizational skills to assist our growing creative design and development department. In this position, you will work independently and as part of a larger team to produce visual solutions to communicate the needs of a variety of client types. You will be required to proactively complete tasks listed within each milestone of client projects.


As a graphic designer, you will need imaginative flair, awareness of current fashions in the visual arts, working knowledge of the latest design software, specifically the Adobe® Creative Suite. You will also need an understanding of material costs and time limits, all of which can impact the final design deliverables. You will need to select the appropriate medium and styles that best coordinate with the client’s requirements. By providing quality visuals, it is our goal to increase profit margins of the client as potential customers become more informed or persuaded by the graphics. We will provide all the necessary tools and training for you to be able to accomplish these tasks on a daily basis. This position is critical to the continued success and growth of our current revenue streams and exceptional performance will be rewarded. This is a part time position with semi-flexible hours. There is little to no commitment to working evenings/weekends.


Responsibilities



  • interpreting client business needs;

  • developing design briefs by gathering information and data to clarify design issues;

  • brainstorming and mocking up initial design ideas;

  • thinking creatively to produce new ideas;

  • using innovation to redefine a design brief and meet the constraints of cost, time and client;

  • multi-tasking: graphic designers often work on more than one design brief at a time;

  • using a wide range of media, including photography and computer aided design;

  • producing accurate and high quality work;

  • contributing ideas and design artwork to the overall brief;

  • keeping abreast of developments in IT, particularly design programs.

  • working well in a team, with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers, account executives, website designers and marketing specialists;

  • working to tight deadlines;

  • working with others, such as printers, programmers, developers, or other technicians, to complete the final product.


Requirements



  • Knowledge of Adobe® Creative Suite 2 or newer; Specifically: Photoshop CS2+, Illustrator CS2+, InDesign CS2+, Fireworks CS2+, Acrobat Pro 8.0+

  • Proficiency with full Microsoft® Office Suite - Required: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point

  • Previous experience in Web Development/Web Design Industry a big plus

  • Strong desire for success

  • Willingness to learn new skills and technologies

  • Professional communication skills - verbal and written

  • Time Management skills - ability to work on multiple projects at one time (multi-tasking)

  • Resourceful, confident under pressure, self-directed and effective working independently, yet equally comfortable contributing in a team environment

  • Ability to coordinate all aspects of maintaining a high level of quality assurance for all projects

  • Desire to deliver projects on-time, within budget, and with high customer satisfaction

  • Understanding and willingness to work with formalized and standardized project management methodologies

Compensation Between $8.00/hour and $15/hour dependent upon previous experience and skills assessment.
